Printing DOS graphics with PAINT

If you have a DOS version of a program and can not print the graphs work sheets from Windows 95 or 98, then try the following instructions:

When you start, make sure your printer is turned on and "On Line."

Before running the AutoWare software you will need to start the "Paint" software in Windows 95.

As shown above, use your mouse and click on the Start icon at the lower left corner of the screen. When the menu pops up move the mouse pointer to the Programs item at the top of the menu list. A new menu should now pop in to the right of the first menu . At the top of this menu is an item labeled Accessories. With your mouse pointer select the Accessories item so that a third menu will appear on the screen. In this menu is an item labeled Paint. Use your mouse and click on the Paint program.

The Paint program should now be on your screen. At the top right corner of the screen are three icon buttons, click on the left button. This will now minimize the Paint program and list it as an item on the task bar at the bottom of your computer's scre en.

Now, as shown above, use your mouse and click on the Start button at the lower left corner of the screen. Again, go to the top of the list and select the Programs item at the top of the menu. This time when the second menu appears move your mouse pointe r to the MS-DOS Prompt and click on this item.

The MS-DOS window will now appear on your computer screen. Now, type CD\ and press the Enter key. At this point you are ready to run your AutoWare software.

Use the start up command to start you software, for example CCW and press the Enter key. Navigate your way through the software until you find the work sheet you wish to print. Once at the work sheet press only the Print Screen button on the key board. Do not hold down the shift key.

After you have pressed the Print Screen button, press the Esc key to return to the AutoWare program. Now, use the mouse pointer and click the left button at the top right corner of the MS-DOS window. This will minimize the AutoWare program to an item on the task bar at the bottom of the screen.

Use the mouse pointer and click on the Paint item listed on the task bar at the bottom of the screen. You will now be back in the Paint program. Now, use the mouse pointer and click the Edit item near the top left corner of the screen. When the pull dow n menu appears select the Paste item. Your AutoWare work sheet will now appear in the Paint program.

You can now print the work sheet, however, because most of the work sheets have a black back ground it will use a lot of black ink from your printer. Before you print you may wish to invert the colors of the work sheet. To do this select the Image item near the top of the Paint screen. When the pull down menu appears select the Invert Colors item to change the appearance of your AutoWare work sheet. You can now print the new colored work sheet as it appears on the Paint program.

After the printing is complete go back to the Edit pull down menu and select Cut to clear out the AutoWare work sheet. You are now ready to minimize the Paint program and return to the AutoWare program listed on the task bar at the bottom of the computer screen.
